Motowatt W1X at the Lyon Two-Wheel Show: An Electric Motorcycle Shaking Up the Market

The latest motorcycle news has recently been highlighted by the unveiling of the W1X, the new electric motorcycle from French brand Motowatt, at the Lyon Two-Wheel Show. After the massive success of their first electric motorcycle last year, the brand hits hard with a 100% French model, equipped with axial flux motors and a range that holds up to averages. Besides the classic W1X version, Motowatt also presented the Scrambler version, promising to thrill those who crave excitement.
Motowatt: A Young French Brand Making Noise
Motowatt is the story of two brothers, Olivier and Henri Rabatel, who embarked on the electric motorcycle venture with the aim of shaking up the market. Their concept? To create electric motorcycles made in France that combine performance, design, and environmental sustainability. After making a splash with their inaugural motorcycle, they unveiled the W1X with a brand-new version: the Scrambler. These rides are assembled near Figeac (Lot), ensuring 100% French manufacturing.
Details That Make the Difference
The W1X and its Scrambler version are fitted with axial flux motors integrated into each wheel. These two motors deliver a combined power of 25 kW, equivalent to 34 horsepower. It’s no joke and perfect for those seeking an electric motorcycle that packs a punch. With such power, the maximum speed reaches 114 km/h for the W1X and 115 km/h for the Scrambler version. Pretty cool for some road fun, right?
Speaking of fun, range is always a crucial factor when it comes to electric motorcycles. Here, the W1X and Scrambler don’t disappoint. They can reach 131 km according to the WMTC cycle, which remains average for electric bikes in this category. Moreover, the 6.7 kWh battery charges from 20 to 80% in just 1h20 thanks to an optional 3.3 kW charger. Perfect for heading out without worrying too much about the battery.
In terms of design, Motowatt opted for café racer-inspired lines with a modern and futuristic touch. Both the W1X and the Scrambler versions boast a striking look. Furthermore, these bikes feature 17-inch wheels and 342 mm disc brakes for smooth and safe riding. Weighing in at 178 kg, they are light enough for an electric motorcycle, ensuring good maneuverability.
A Highly Anticipated Launch for Summer 2025
Although the W1X and Scrambler aren’t available yet, Motowatt plans a launch for summer 2025. If you’re already excited about these new rides, you can pre-order now with an initial payment of 300 euros. And the best part, there are various colors to choose from, allowing you to personalize your ride. As for the price, we’re talking about €14,950 for the W1X and €15,450 for the Scrambler version. Quite competitive for high-end electric bikes, especially with the option of a B license, making them accessible to younger riders.
