Lyon Two-Wheeler Show: Motowatt Unveils Its 100% Electric Motorcycle

The Lyon 2 Wheels Show unveiled an exciting newcomer in the motorcycle world. Motowatt, a budding French company established in 2020 by the Rabatel brothers, showcased two eye-catching electric motorcycle models that are sure to grab the attention of biker enthusiasts and tech lovers. After a year of dedicated work, they’ve brought their vision to life: 100% electric, practical, and high-performance bikes perfect for urban use. If you’re in search of a bike that merges innovation, style, and performance, Motowatt might just have what you’re looking for!
Motowatt: A Completely French Motorcycle, from Design to Manufacture
The journey of Motowatt began a year ago, driven by the promise of creating a revolutionary electric motorcycle geared for city life and accessible to everyone. Now, this promise has become a reality. Motowatt has not only developed one electric bike, but doubled down with two models: the W1W and the Scrambler. These aren’t just your standard electric motorcycles. No, these are two distinctive bikes with design tailored to be as practical as they are efficient.
The motorcycles boast sharp technology including a Cantilever monoshock suspension and an in-house developed axial-flow electric motor—a real testament to quality and innovation. Both models are priced from €14,950 to €15,450 for the Scrambler version, a very fair price for bikes in this class. Plus, they’re manufactured in France, near Figeac, which is a definite perk for those looking to support local industry.
Models with Character
The W1X and the Scrambler are here to make more than just a statement. These bikes are crafted to offer a satisfying and high-performance riding experience, with features that position them among the best in their category. Weighing in at 178 kg, they strike a balance between being lightweight and stable. Additionally, with a combined power of 25 kW (equivalent to 34 horsepower), you’ll have plenty of power for road fun. Designed for everyday use, these electric bikes meet the needs of even the most discerning riders.
Autonomy is also a strong suit of these motorcycles: 131 km according to WMTC standards. That’s enough for a full day of urban riding without worrying about the battery; however, for a longer road trip, a quick stop for recharging may be necessary. The good news is the charging time is reduced to 1.2 hours to go from 20% to 80% with a 3.3 kW charger. For a full charge, expect about 3.3 hours. Not too shabby, right?
Urban and Modern Design
One of the greatest strengths of the Motowatt is undoubtedly its design. Breaking away from the oft-perceived overly futuristic or soulless electric bikes, Motowatt’s models carry a unique modern-retro appeal that makes a difference. The W1W flaunts a sleek and dynamic look, while the Scrambler opts for a rugged yet elegant aesthetic. Perfect for bikers seeking thrills, yet also ideal for those wanting a motorcycle that blends seamlessly into the urban landscape without making too much noise.
