From Retro to Modern: Mash Unveils Its K750 and GT750 at the Lyon 2-Wheel Show

The Lyon Motorcycle Show has always been a highly anticipated event for motorcycle enthusiasts, and this year, Mash has certainly raised the bar. While the brand is already well-established with iconic models like the Seventy, X-Ride, and Six-Hundred, Mash surprised attendees with two new machines: the K750 and the GT750. But that’s not all; these models signify a new direction for the brand, with a stylistic departure and a strategic partnership with Jinan Jedi Motorcycle, known as JEDI. A wave of modernity is sweeping through this French brand and it isn’t showing any signs of stopping.
Mash: Saying Goodbye to Retro and Hello to Modern!
Mash has always been known in the motorcycle world for its retro bikes, reminiscent of the golden age of classic motorcycles. However, with the introduction of the K750 and the GT750, the brand seems eager to shed its vintage image. Say goodbye to the neoretro style that has characterized Mash in recent years, and hello to more modern and powerful models. The announcement of this change was made with great fanfare at the Motorcycle Show, and it definitely caught everyone by surprise. The K750 and GT750 are unlike anything Mash has offered before, embracing the future with cleaner lines and a focus on performance.
The Mash x JEDI Collaboration
One of the most notable aspects of these new models is the collaboration between Mash and Jinan Jedi Motorcycle, better known as JEDI. This strategic partnership is not hiding its ambitions: Mash is clearly aiming to pivot to more modern machines, boasting higher engine capacity and technical features comparable to major market players. In the long term, Mash might even transition away from its neoretro models to fully embrace the production of JEDI motorcycles. This is a significant shift for the French brand, but also a promising chance to reinvent itself and engage a new audience.
Technical Details of the K750 and GT750
Now, let’s get into the specifics: the technical features of these two new models. The K750 and the GT750 aren’t just futuristic-looking bikes; they are built for performance. Both motorcycles are equipped with a twin-cylinder DOHC engine of 730 cc, delivering just under 75 horsepower at 8,500 RPM. While it’s not a powerhouse, it’s more than sufficient for bikes in this category. The liquid cooling system ensures better thermal management, ideal for longer rides.
In terms of suspension, Mash hasn’t skimped on quality, offering adjustable components that allow riders to customize their riding experience. Renowned Michelin tires provide excellent grip, and Brembo four-piston calipers offer exceptional stopping power. The TFT dashboard adds a modern touch, providing clear readings of essential information for the rider. Although these bikes are slightly heavier than one might expect, weighing 217 kg for the K750 and 275 kg for the GT750, they do not lack character.
Mash: A Long-Term Strategy
But Mash is not stopping here. The brand’s goal is clear: to adapt to new market trends while retaining a part of its identity. While the K750 and GT750 are just the beginning of this evolution, the brand plans to gradually incorporate JEDI motorcycles into its lineup by 2026, eventually outsourcing all production to the Chinese manufacturer. It’s a bold strategy but seems logical in light of a market increasingly geared towards modern and high-performance motorcycles.
